THE RULES

You must build your car on the base supplied (you can edit it so long as you do not interfere with the axel position).

You must use the wheels and axels supplied.

Your car cannot be taller than 19cm.

Your car cannot be wider than the wheels.

Your car cannot be longer than 30cm.

You cannot build under the base.

Your finished car cannot weigh more than 500 grams.

Cars should be built from materials typically found at home or Scouts. If you need to purchase materials for your build, this must be a reasonable spend - no more than your parents allow. Your car needs to be designed and built within your resources (Ferrari is not allowed to design Kub Kars!)

No propulsion of any sort is allowed.

On the day, each kub kar will be measured, weighed and checked. if a car is not built according to these rules, it will be disqualified and will automatically be eliminated after the first heat.

TIPS

FOR

CUBS

(from some Cubs who have raced before)

  • Be careful when attaching your axel holders. Watch the video before you try!

Make sure your wheels are pushed in hard on the axels and that it's all nice and straight.

  • You'll want to think about how to distribute weight in your car so that it stays on the track. Weight positioned in the wrong position will make your car fall off the track when it races. If the weight isn't even, your car will wobble its way down the track and will slow down.

  • Don't assume that it will roll evenly. Test it on straight ground to make sure it does

  • Think about shapes which will allow the air to move around your car so that it doesn't slow down when it races

  • While these videos are about races held in other parts of the world, and the way they build Kub Kars and what they call them might be different, we gained a lot of useful information from these videos -
